El Campo de Cariñena, con sus 770 kilómetros cuadrados, lo que significa el 1,47 % de la extensión total de Aragón,
se conforma como un espacio circular en torno a la cabecera, Cariñena, en la que confluyen las principales vías de
comunicación: la N-330 de Cuenca a Francia por Zaragoza (futura autovia Mudéjar), que atraviesa la comarca en dirección norte-sur; C-220, en dirección oeste-este, que enlaza la autovía a Madrid en La Almunia de Doña Godina con las tierras del Levante español; y el ferrocarril Zaragoza-Valencia.
Esta comarca se sitúa en la parte central y meridional del valle medio del Ebro, entre las primeras sierras del Sistema
Ibérico (sierras del Paco y Modorra por el Sur y Algairén por el Oeste ) y las típicas muelas de la Depresión.
La comarca constituye una zona de piedemonte extendida entre los cursos del Jalón y del Huerva. Este último río atraviesa de sur a norte su lado oriental.
El Campo de Cariñena limita al norte con la comarca de Valdejalón y la de Zaragoza; al sur con el Campo de Daroca; al este con el Campo de Belchite; y al oeste con la de Calatayud.
